TheArsenale Perspectives / Brand Design
Art direction
Make every creative choice point in the same direction.

What it means
Art direction establishes the visual point of view of a project. It connects the concept with casting, setting, composition, lighting, styling and the final selection of images. The art director makes those choices work together so that the result communicates a specific brand idea.
Why a CMO invests in it
For a CMO, art direction provides a bridge between an approved strategy and a recognisable final execution. It helps a production team make coherent decisions and protects the idea through practical constraints. The benefit is a more distinctive expression of the brand, not decoration added after the shoot.

TAG Heuer — Patrick Dempsey & Porsche
Art Direction, Production, Photography
View the full project ↗The documented case
For TAG Heuer, TheArsenale brought Patrick Dempsey and Porsche together in an automotive photography campaign. The project connects the watchmaker’s identity with the people, machines and emotion of motorsport.
Pat Meignan led the art direction and production, shaping the visual approach and bringing the shoot to life. The resulting photographic series places Dempsey and Porsche at the centre of the brand story.
The marketing lesson
For the TAG Heuer project featuring Patrick Dempsey and Porsche, Pat Meignan led art direction and production. The photographic series connects the watchmaker with the people, machines and emotion of motorsport. The case illustrates how talent and setting can carry a credible cultural association. The useful question is not simply whether the imagery looks premium, but why these particular people and objects belong in the same story.
If we changed the talent, location or lighting, would the brand idea become stronger or weaker—and why?
What the work produces
Visual concept; references; casting and styling direction; location and lighting brief; on-set decisions; selection and finishing guidance.
The exact scope is defined for each brief; this is a practical guide to the discipline.
What to measure
Assess consistency with the brief, recognition of the intended associations and the usefulness of the delivered assets. Review how well the core concept survives different crops and placements.
These are suggested evaluation criteria, not reported results for the case above.
