Social media strategies

Give the community a clear creative invitation.

What it means

Social media strategy defines why a brand should join a conversation, who it wants to reach and what useful exchange it can create. It sets the roles of editorial content, creators, community management and paid distribution. A publishing calendar puts that strategy into operation; it cannot replace the strategy itself.

Why a CMO invests in it

A CMO gains a way to connect daily activity with a larger brand objective. Clear participation rules and a credible creative invitation can generate richer audience contributions than a generic request for engagement. The team also needs a plan for responding and for turning interest into a lasting relationship.

Creative Concept, Community Campaign

The documented case

For the Twingo’s anniversary, Renault and TheArsenale invited the public to reinvent the city car using generative AI. Participants imagined their own versions and shared them under #ReinventTwingo.

The campaign connected a familiar automotive icon with a new creative tool. TheArsenale helped develop the concept around a digital-to-real idea: use the community’s submissions as the starting point for a physical show car.

The marketing lesson

Reinvent Twingo offered a recognisable subject, a creative tool and a shared hashtag. The public could contribute its own visual interpretation of an automotive icon. TheArsenale’s documented role was concept development, including the digital-to-real idea. The case shows why a clear creative constraint can help people participate: they know the object, the action and where to share it.

Are we asking people to repeat our message, or giving them something worth expressing in their own way?

What the work produces

Audience and platform priorities; editorial themes; creator brief; community response principles; participation rules; reporting framework.

The exact scope is defined for each brief; this is a practical guide to the discipline.

What to measure

Assess relevant contributions, conversation quality, saves, qualified visits and message understanding. Distinguish organic participation from paid exposure and use a defined baseline when assessing change.

These are suggested evaluation criteria, not reported results for the case above.
